Author Keith B Wood joined HODGEPOD August 14th to discuss Memphis State Basketball with the Larry Finch putting the city on his shoulders from Melrose High School to guiding Memphis State as a player to the Final Four in 1973. Eventually Finch became Head Coach for the MSU in 1986. Even through his firing from Memphis he loved Memphis. Rob and Keith discuss Larry Finch’s influence on Penny Hardaway. Cash lived in Memphis for a bit and worked hard to get a chance. That chance taken on him sold 90 million albums while performing in 4,300 concerts or shows. Dave gave tremendous insight as he was and still is a great fan of Cash.

Rob is joined by Jim Fischer again as they talk about the 1997 World Series between the Florida Marlins and Cleveland Indians. Jim and I worked at Pro Player Stadium during the Marlins playoff run which they won after five years becoming an expansion team. The Marlins were built for the playoffs while the Indians were built with their rich farm system. They discuss the teams, the time in Miami with the playoffs and World Series. They also discussed baseball in Miami and Tampa and what the future may hold and some other baseball tidbits.

Rob is joined by Jim Fischer as they look back at the 1991 World Series. The Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves went from worst in 1990 to first in place in 1991. This seven game series saw each team win at home. Game 6 and Game 7 were extra inning games that the Twins won in dramatic fashion. Jim was at games 6 and 7 and he shared his thoughts and memories. Rob and Jim talk about Kirby Puckett, the start of the playoff run for the Braves and lineups of both teams. This World Series could be considered as one of the Greatest of All Time.
